EDF Trading appoints Managing Director, EDFT North America

EDF Trading, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDF S.A., announces the appointment of Robert Forgrave as Managing Director for EDF Trading North America.  Forgrave will start on Monday 23rd March, 2015 and will report to John Rittenhouse, Chief Executive.
 
Forgrave will be responsible for the implementation of EDF Trading’s North American business strategy and day to day operations of the business.  He will have direct line responsibility for EDFT’s North American support functions and will join EDFT’s Executive Committee.

Forgrave joins from Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (part of the MUFG Group) where he was Managing Director and International Head of Commodities.  Prior to that, he was Managing Director and Global Head of Commodities at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

“Robert has over 25 years’ experience in the commodities markets.  He is a great fit for EDF Trading and will work with our local business heads to develop commercial strategies which are aligned with the EDF Group,” said John Rittenhouse.

EDF Trading in North America is split into three businesses:
  1. EDF Trading North America (trading activities) which will be managed by Robert Forgrave;
  2. EDF Energy Services (retail services and asset management for large industrial and commercial customers) which is managed by Mary Anne Brelinsky; and
  3. EDF Trading Resources (upstream gas activities) which is managed by Brad Watson. 
The EDF Trading Group supports a large and growing number of third party customers in North America with wholesale services in power, gas, coal and environmental products.  It is active coast to coast and present in all the deregulated markets.  EDF Trading in North America is a top gas marketer and top 10 player in the NA power market.  It is also ranked no. 10 non-residential retail electricity provider.

Forgrave joined Mitsubishi UFJ Securities in 2012 until 2014.  He spent 20 years at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (1992-2012) as MD and Global Head of Commodities and Head of New York Capital Markets Trading.  He started out in 1989 as a Broker/Trader at Preston Head Limited.  Forgrave is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, with an MA in International Relations/International Economics.  He also has a BA (Hons) in History from the University of Calgary.
